Quahog Shell Weaving Workshop - for Waitlist
$85.00

About the Workshop:

Maybe you’re familiar with the Cape Cod quahog as the iconic clam shell with the purple inside. Perhaps you’re a fan of clam chowder or the beautiful carved jewelry made by local Wampanoag and other artisans. But did you also know that you can weave a quahog shell?

Join Sarah Manion of The Interwoven Institute in a 3-hour workshop where you’ll learn how to transform the common quahog into a truly delightful work of art. Learn the history and cultural significance of this local bivalve while you warp and weave your own shell.

As an added bonus, we’ll enjoy a snack of stuffed quahogs and experience the interconnectedness of local materials, land, culture, and craft!

What’s Included:

  • Quahog shell (pre-carved and ready to be warped)

  • All weaving materials including warping threads, needles, and tools

  • Snacks: Homemade Stuffed Quahogs & tea

Who is this for?

Any adult interested in learning how to connect to themselves, each other, and the earth through craft. No previous experience with weaving is necessary (although some dexterity is helpful).

Location: Salt Yarn Studio (620 Main St., Dennis, MA)

Refund Policy:

We are not able to offer refunds for this workshop; however, we are happy to transfer your registration to another person you know if you’re not able to make it.
